It has been nearly 2 years since I have picked up this hobby of tee shirt design. I call it a hobby because I am definitely not a professional at it, but I do have enough knowledge to call myself an amateur.

Whether a professional or an amateur, the goal of producing any tee shirt design is to see it ultimately in print… and perhaps walking past you on the street. I have created many tee shirt designs over the past couple of years that have been very well perceived, but never made it to print.

Instead of sending these designs to the various online tee shirt printers across the web, I have decided that my time would be better spent producing new designs. It doesn’t take much of a thought process to figure out that I am wasting time on good old designs instead of using that time on great new designs. Lesson learned and it’s time to move on.

I honestly feel that by producing designs for a contest and then rinsing and repeating cheapens a design. I have always felt a little dirty every time I have attempted it. Usually the audience has lost the “Awe” factor with a design after seeing it before and thus is no longer excited to see it again. It sounds cruel, but it’s true.

So, what to do with the good designs that never made it to print? I answered my own question and have acted upon it by putting those good ol’ designs on MySoti.

Though the site name has changed, it is still focused on letting designers put their designs in a market place. MySoti uses a Direct to Garment printing technique like larger online printers. Unlike the large printers, MySoti prints on tee shirts and posters only. This market focus is perfect for designers like me who want to see their hobbies come to life.
